Another aspect of your prevention and cleaning plan involves having dental X-rays taken of your teeth. At Dr. Orandi’s office, we have implemented the latest dental X-ray technology: digital radiography. By using an electronic sensor, the digital X-ray machine will capture and immediately store the digital images of your teeth.
Using this technology, receiving an X-ray is now faster and more comfortable than ever before. In addition, digital radiography uses up to 10 times less radiation than a traditional X-ray machine. And because the digital images can be viewed almost instantly, Dr. Orandi will be able to see and diagnose any developing problems faster and more efficiently.
Having dental X-rays taken of your teeth is important to help prevent future pain, discomfort, or permanent damage. While digital radiography is much safer than a traditional machine, we still take all precautions to prevent any unnecessary exposure to radiation. Our patients’ safety and health are always our number one priority.
Do I need an X-ray?
How often you need an X-ray will depend on your dental and medical history, an exam by Dr. Orandi, any symptoms or signs that you’re exhibiting, your age, and your risk for disease. Ideally, patients should receive X-rays at least twice a year, but occasionally more will be needed if any problems arise.
